Does curb appeal really matter?

Curb is the first thing any respective buyer will notice upon arriving to your home. So it’s easy to get carried away spending all kinds of money. So today, I give a few suggestions on how to spruce up the exterior of your home that will make a good impression on buyers in a cost-effective way.

This is a very interesting yet subjective question. The answer in short is yes. The saying about how you never get a second chance to make a first impression is absolutely true. Curb appeal plays a huge role in how well your house will perform on the market.

Peace of mind for buyers

This is one of the reasons we put so much effort into presenting your home in its best light with professional photography. From my experience from the lawn and gardens are well manicured, and the look of the property is impeccably get this has a huge value to some buyers. A well kept property is often a good indication of the level of care and maintenance done to the home overall, which gives people peace of mind as they’re considering making an offer.

Secondly, buyers who are willing to take on certain renovations or improvements when they buy a home will see this as one less thing that they need to address if they decide to purchase.

How to increase your curb appeal – cost-efficiently

Here are a couple of simple things you can do to improve your curb appeal.

1. Make sure your lawn is freshly mowed.
2. Using a trim around the edges of the garden and driveways also has a big impact on how tidy things look.
3. Break up any leaves that may have gone into the gardens or into the corners of your property.
4. Add some cedar mulch to gardens to give a nice consistent look to them and to make the plants you have stand out even more.
5. Sweep the driveway and walkways around the house, even the back deck.
6. Rent or even borrow a pressure washer to give you a quick spray to clean the exterior of your home. Focus especially on the areas with white trim or little edges of the sign because these areas tend to collect a lot more dust than you might realize.
7. Clean your gutters. If there’s anything stuck in there you can even use the pressure washer here, too.
8. Hide your trash and recycling bins behind the house or even throw them in the garage.
9. Fix any crooked or broken gutters or downspouts.
10. In some cases, having the exterior painted will go a long way. But that can be a much bigger undertaking, so I save that recommendation for a case by case basis to determine if you actually need it or not.
